Being A Disc Jockey?

Being A Disc Jockey?

This is probably the most common question for all newcomer disc jockeys and referred to as a D.J. for brief. The first thing to do would be to do a bit of research. What kind of D.J. would you wish to be? There are different types of D.J.'s because they D.J. in different ways. The three Big Kinds of D.J.'s are:

Mobile D.J./ Mobile Entertainer
Club D.J.
Fight D.J.
Mobile D. J.

They take their equipment on the street and do gigs at Faculties, private parties, special occasions and the like. They use just about all sorts of disc jockey equipment including karaoke equipment.

Mobile D.J.'s are entertainers also.

They get the crowd involved by playing games with all the songs, singing, Pioneer plx-1000 playing audio along with other party favorites which involve entertaining the crowd.

Mobile D.J.'s usually have a disc jockey PA system they bring with them into the gig.

This permits the disc jockey to broadcast the music . A PA system is composed of an amplifier and 2 speakers.

Club D. J.

It's the Club disc jockeys capacity to play various types of songs and make it seem good that makes them stand out. That's the reason why they get paid the big bucks.

To most it is not a puzzle why the club disc jockey is the very sought after D.J.. Among my favorite club disc jockeys that cross all categories of disc jockeying is D.J. Cash Money from Philadelphia, PA.. He has some of the quickest hands on the faders and turntables that I have ever observed.

For their songs many club disc jockeys use Technics SL-1200/1210 Turntables. Now you can find bar D.J.'s using Final Scratch by Stanton or Pioneer plx-1000 Serato Scratch Live by Rane. Club D.J.'s"play the audience" meaning that they have developed the ability to read the audience and Traktor Kontrol S8 know what tunes to play based on audience response.

This takes time to develop but as soon as you have mastered this measure it allows you to explore fresh tunes in the club that you might not otherwise play as a result of inexperience. This is a great way to make a livelihood if you can find a home in several clubs.

Fight D.J. or Turntablists

They are a particular group of highly skilled disc jockeys which do tricks with the turntables and mixer. Through years of training they've been able to develop their abilities of scratching, blending and above all beat juggling.

Beat juggling is if a D.J. is able to manipulate two records to the point at which it sounds like he's creating a new defeat from two distinct ones. Because these skills are highly developed most combat D.J.'s could be a club D.J. or a cellular D.J. since the skills cross all categories of disc jockeying.

After you know which sort of D.J. you wish to be you want to learn what type of equipment disc jockeys utilize.

The Four questions any fresh disc jockey must ask before buying any new equipment are:

How or in what capacity will I be using my D.J. equipment (e.g. club D.J., Denon DJ remixing( for parties)?
Just how much do I wish to spend?
Where will I buy all this D.J. equipment?
What D.J. equipment do I really need?
Each one of these 3 kinds of disc jockeys I mentioned above utilizes the same D.J. equipment for the most part.

These are:

2 (2) turntables such as the NumarkTTX1 Turntables
2 (2) slipmats
Two (2) cartridges like the Shure M44 7 mounted on a Technics Headshell
One (1) mixer such as the Rane TTM56 (Mixers)
One (1) set of cans such as the Stanton Guru D.J. 3000 Headphones
